Example of succussion according
to the hanhemannian method
|
The term 'homœopathy' is composed
of two parts: that which is similar 'homeo', and 'patia'
which is suffering,
or disease. Homœopathy means
that a substance, in certain doses, provokes
symptoms similar to similar naturally
occuring symptoms which it can cure those in infintesimal
doess, and thus it can constitute a remedy when applied
to a 'similar' disease.
Samuel Hanhemann introduced a method
of preparation of the homœopathic products; potentisation
through dinamisation. This procedure greatly increases
the effectiveness of the remedies when used with
precision upon similar symptoms. In paractice this means
diluting the crude substance at a ratio of
1:99 in water (or 1:9, depending on whether one chooses the
centesimal or decimal dilution), and shaking in a rhythmical
pattern known as succussion followed by a repeated
cycle of similar dilution and succussion .
This procedure is repeated many
times, so that the substance becomes free from the field
of the material forces in which
it is normally inserted. The forces are thus activated
which were previously active in forming the substance
and once again predominate.
